SITE NEWS FLASH: We have now included a more powerful Forum in Radio Controlled Flying have a look Join it is free. The forum is runs on a separate database and requires you to register to take advantage of the facilities as most forums do.Others like to just use the weather site links and for Sydney Slopes Flying radio controlled planes Just a note: The forums are set to auto prune..if after registering you don't return you will be notified that your account will be deleted if you don't log in. This keeps the forum clean of dead wood. There is also interest in special groups ( clubs ) having a private area to use on the forums until they get one up and running for themselves.. space is limited so first in first served. We can advise local clubs on how to setup there own free forums or just Google Free "Forum Hosting" http://www.radiocontrolledflying.tk/smf/index.php If you were to join the main site use the same details we are looking at integration of the forum and the gallery and the main site all using the one log in.. it had its advantages and its disadvantages..so until then you need to register will all three section if you want full access. Also we now have Gallery.. If you have some nice pictures you would like all to see get in quick before the space is used up

Radio Controlled Flying
This site is NOT to re-invent the wheel but to help newcomers to Radio Controlled Flying. The site is in its early stages of building and will grow over time with useful information and links to those that are interested in this sport and how to get into it the right way and at a level that won’t cost you a fortune and turn you away. There are many traps that new flyers can fall into. |

So you are interested in AP and or VR.... check out his dite in the Web Links link number 6... more to come I have a few item in the Eagle Tree series and as very good SIMPLE gear to use.... The process of flying a remote controlled plane as if you were sitting in the inside your model, using a video / audio down link. Unless you are prepared to spend around $1,000.00 Plus at least for all the gear required to do it right or you are a techie and have a few of the set items then you would not be reading much more of this anyway.. forget it...don't bother you will only end up dissapointed... Thing are improving all the time and prices are coming down but without, at the very least a basic setup.. the quality will be poor.. and you may even loose your model and interest |

Battery Care and Maintenance What is the difference between NiCad, NiMH and Lithium Ion batteries?
Batteries in portable consumer devices such as a laptop, camcorder, cellular phone, etc., are typically made using either Nickel Cadmium (NiCad), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) or Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery cell chemistry. Should I start with powered flight, or with a glider? |
Should I start with powered flight, or with a glider? Depends on your preferences. I prefer slope planes / gliders, An electric Wing called a bee, 42" and then a 1.8 m (wingspan) called a Passer it is a good size---large enough to be easy to fly but small enough for easy transport. Beginner gliders are lighter, fly slower and are more acceptable to the non-flying community than powered planes---no noise or mess. Gliders are also cheaper (at least the trainers are) than powered planes---no fuel, batteries, starter etc. to worry about. Electric Flight is silent and clean so finds greater acceptance from neighbors etc. at the flying field, although some people feel that electrics are not robust or easy enough for beginners. There is a little more paraphernalia - you may need spare battery packs, but you can fly from smaller fields. Power (with engines that use a fuel) will let you fly longer, and your model doesn't need to be as light as with electric (so it's likely to be easier to build ) ; however, you may have to go to a field far from populated areas. |
