First Person View (FPV)I have only just had time to update this poor old site with renewed interest in FPV with the variety of gear that has come onto the market !!!!! There are many OSD (On Screen Displays) Systems on the market now all with their own pros and cons. To go beyond this will require a fair bit of hunting around for the type you would like to use and the platform ( Plane) you can afford. You may well by this time be more confuse about FPV than every but you must keep in mind that while it is a lot of fun it has it hazards and can be very costly to crash. much more than the normal we all have at one time or another with the additional equipment on-board. Apart from the obvious issues like equipment failure, radio interference you know have the video TX/RX component to deal with. Video receiver base station/s is an area that seems to have the least attention given and really it is one of the most important. The other is the reckless nature with which Fliers tend to think that flying at over the legal height is OK.. a 4.5lb (2kg) plane at 300 meters out of control can be deadly and not good for the FPV community. This type of fool hardy actions will only bring bans on the equipment and possible heavy fine $$$$ to apart from injury/damage to people and property. It's not for me to preach the rights or wrongs but to just remind future FPV enthusiasts and those that do already fly FPV a reminder that there is always going to be consequences to our actions. So a little "NO" a LOT of care and thought is advisable. Try and hook up with another FPV pilot, read , research, get onto forums like DIY Drones or some of the OSD retailers like Rangevideo RVOSD forum that now sell the RVOSD G4 another local supplier in Taiwan: for the Long Range and FPV gear is http://shyau.com/ Tom is the owner, and just drop him an This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or the EagleTree system I can't add and bore you with all the systems out there now but this is a start. Both of these sites a must see site if you are interested in Video gear.. if you ever have a issue drop me a line I only promote and post articles from retailers that will look after your needs and know what it is all about. So you are interested in AP and or VR? The process of flying a remote controlled plane as if you were sitting in the inside your model, using a video / audio down link.
Unless you are prepared to spend around $1,000.00 Plus at least for all the gear required to do it right or you are a techie and have a few of the set items then you would not be reading much more of this anyway.. forget it...don't bother you will only end up disappointed... Things are improving all the time and prices are coming down but without, at the very least a basic setup.. the quality will be poor.. and you may even loose your model and interest
![]() Digital Products CompanyWelcome to Digital Products CompanyThank you for visiting our online shop. We have interesting hard-to-find parts that make us a favorite visiting place for electronic hobbyists and midnight engineers. A must goto site for FPV quality gear... I will add to this article as I can.. again there is a lot of info on the RCgroup Forum , Join and do a Search for FPV / video piloting In the Web Links
Get yourself a cheap digital camera or even an old mobile phone ( Cell Phones for our US readers) or go to the Flycamone2 strap it on remembering about the CG and the Lateral balance video piloting wearing a set of goggles that has the received video signal feed into them. There are many brands some on eBay other in specialised shops but can get very expensive. I was lucky enough to get a good pair from eBay but remember not every thing is as it seems on eBay.. do some research first.
For an easy start and cheaper way of getting into Aerial Video
Read the Article " FlyCamOne in Flight Camera & Video Recorder" by Darren Williams
found in Airborne mag Issue #224 Page 25
I have been using flycamone2 since it was released and even with all the other FPV cam gear I have this is just quick easy to use light,( no real need to worry about the CG issue..there is now the mini Cam or Key chain Spy Cam on eBay..from $10 to $20 hunt around.Very good quality 720X480 @30 FPS even now as high as 1280X1024 @ 30 FPS.. but you need a good quality Mico SD card.a valuable site for the tech's is the 808 Car Key Micro Camera site
A top unit as an entry point and then you will still use it even if you go to the big dollars later on so it not a waste.. I have even done some time laps photo work with this unit.. then a free program download that will stitch JPG files together into an AVI file you can get this free program from :JPGVideo Stictcher and FlyCamOne2
I am looking at adding a section to a FPV build and the equipment I use.. It will vary from many others due to the extensive variety that seems to come on the market every day. But for some quick aerial video just to take home and look at and maybe upload to YouTube you can't go pass the Key Chain Cam. Search YouTube for some results and you will see what I am talking about.
